Which part of london should I stay in?

Ive won a hotel stay at any marriot hotel in the uk, and want to visit london. I would like to visit the natural History Museum and also go to a market to find some cheap clothes, shoes, handbags etc.

Also want to vitis oxford street, harrods etc. whats the best area to stay for getting around london, then I can check if theres a marriott nearby. Theres 26 in london, so should be fairly easy to find one, money is no object, as the prize is for wherever I want to stay. I dont know London at all, it is so big, I dont want to end up on the outskirts when I could have stayed nearer things.

Or is travel around london fairly easy anyway? Ive never been to London, I live in bristol, and our transport here is total crap,

Renaissance Chancery Court will be the easiest to get to the places you want to. Holborn station for Picadilly Line to South Kensington and the museums or Kightsbridge for Harrods or the Central Line to Oxford Street. Short walk to Covent Garden.
The Marriott County Hall should be able to have a room overlooking the Thames and Houses of Parliament. Next to the London Eye and a short walk to Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace. Short walk to Waterloo for the Northern Line to Camden for Camden Market or over Westminster Bridge to the District Line to South Kensington.
Park Lane is nearer physically to the museums and Oxford Street and you would have to catch a bus from their.

What was the significance of the hotel that was bombed in Pakistan on September 20th, 2008?

I am doing a paper on the suicide bombing that bombed a Pakistan Marriott this september. I was wondering if anyone knows why they chose that particular building to bomb, and what the history of the hotel is??? Thanks!!!!!

hm.. well here a few random points i could come up with..

– the Marriott hotel in Islamabad was one of the landmarks of the city
– Islamabad is the capital of pakistan
– the hotel was situated in the high-security RED ZONE
– it was very close to the Prime Minister House, the Parliament, the Supreme Court and the President House
– the explosives were laden in a dumper truck that had bricks over it
– police have arrested 4 people over the identification of the brick kiln owner
– the attacker hit the truck with the security barriers and blew himself up with a hand grenade
– the fire from the small explosion caused the 600 KG explosives to slowly ignite
– it took 5 mins or more to have the fire reach the explosives.. the CCTV footage showed security personnel extinguishing the fire with an extinguisher.
– the crater was 25- 30 feet deep and wide
– the explosives also had aluminum powder that caused the fire to spread
– the fire in the hotel broke out due to the gas cylinders in the kitchen that blew up due to the explosion
– around 56 people died and over 200 were injured
– the ambassador from the Czech Republic was killed in the blast
– the Pentagon reported the death of 2 US Marines in the blast too.. Pakistani authorities did not confirm them as Marines..

ok.. besides this..

Why they chose to bomb Marriott? That’s something no one has reached so far.. some say it’s because it was a hotel that was frequented by foreigners..

Secondly.. as i mentioned it was in the red zone close to important buildings of the government

The government’s claim that they were to host a dinner the same day in that hotel was brushed aside by the hotel owner who claimed that the government never had any booking whatsoever.. besides he also said that the hotel did not had any hall that was big enough to host such a huge dinner!
