Using Web Forms to save the environment
As defined in Wikipedia, Web Form "allows the user to input data, ie normally sent to a server for processing and to mimic the use of paper forms. "by its very definition a web form can help improve the environment.
How much paper can be made from a tree? Or, how many trees are needed to make a certain amount of paper? It is very difficult to answer these questions directly and the best we can obtain are estimates. In the 1970s a report by the Conservatree estimated that one ton of newspaper saves 17 trees. This is a rough estimate. News paper is not made of materials from the same tree as the office is done.
It is hard to do calculations accurate conversion of trees for the paper as the paper is made from a mix of trees. Some are wooden, some are softwood. Some are trees young, while others are old growth. Some trees are wide, while others are weak trees. Some paper is made from sawdust.
Whether or not we can calculate exactly how many trees can be saved by the change of paper forms to web forms is not a problem. Nobody can deny that the environmental impact of business and government changes to paper forms online web forms would be significant.
Therefore, all firms and government should be encouraged to use web forms whenever possible instead of paper forms. Imagine the savings that would result if each year it becomes hundreds of millions of forms of government in web forms. The environmental impact would be astronomical.
If all firms who joined the unit to move to a society paperless and store all their information in electronic format, as well as maintenance of all records in electronic format then hundreds of millions more sheets of paper each year would be retained.
