I have read some articles online about studies done that show a twice weekly use of green tea vaginal suppositories helps to put mild (and even severe) cervical dysplasia into recession. I can’t seem to find them anywhere online! I know this is sort of a holistic / herbal thing, but certainly it must be available somewhere. Thanks!
I’ve never seen it applied as a vaginal suppository. The papers I’ve seen have studied the effects of DRINKING green tea or taking EGCg (epigallocatechin gallate), which is green tea extract, orally in pill form. And there are a few good quality studies that show green tea has some positive impact on estrogen metabolism, which indirectly benefits cervical dysplasia…
Another option to consider is diindolylmethane (DIM). This is a phytochemical found in veggies in the cabbage family… there are a few forms available for supplementation.
- I3C (indole-3-carbinol) is the pre-cursor for DIM… studies have shown it to be less effective and less safe for supplementation than DIM.
- DIM is safe and effective. Studies have shown positive response and even remission in patients with cervical dysplasia up to CIN III at doses of 200-400mg/day
- ICZ is a conversion product of I3C that is shown to be LEAST SAFE of all possible variations and it is not recommended for long-term supplementation.
You can also increase dietary sources of DIM… sprouts are highest in the active compounds. Broccoli sprouts in particular will get you the best therapeutic bang for your food buck. This is a great option for people with CIN I or for general health and prevention.
